ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I have been actively painting and exhibiting my work since the early 1960’s. My career

includes thirty years as a scientific illustrator with the University of California at Scripps

Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla and in the Department of Geological Sciences, UC

Santa Barbara, as well as courses I developed and taught in design and composition.

The contemporary paintings in the section "Tibetan Symbols" are informed by the Tibetan

Buddhist spiritual path and my years of practice on that path with spiritual friends and masters

in the Kagyu lineage from Dhagpo Kundreul Ling (DLK) in France.

For several years I worked in oils. My current work and that of the past several decades is in

mixed media, pen and ink, and acrylic. My paintings are in private collections across the

United States and in Europe.
